The most important five minutes of your day. That is the 11 am newsletter. It was created to help managers and leaders keep their finger on the pulse. Every working day we bring five key events and trends from politics, economics, geopolitics, technology and business. A professional selection by editors with experience at international agencies such as Bloomberg, Reuters and the Associated Press.

The world is overloaded with information. The real challenge is finding the essential pieces that shape events and show trends and direction. That is exactly what we want to offer with the new newsletter and on the 11am.cz website. A source of information for managers and their key decisions.

The most important, written by the best

11 am is a format of genuine slow journalism. The new medium offers a qualified selection of news for people in business who need essential information for competent decisions but do not have time to search for it laboriously.

Every working day at 11 am, the editorial team presents five key events and trends that shape decisions: from politics, economics, geopolitics, technology and business. For wider context, each one adds one or two comments from renowned Czech and international economists.

Content for demanding subscribers

The idea came in the spring from financier and investor Daniel Křetínský. The Czech market lacked a similar digital product that he and his closest team could read themselves. 11 am, however, did not remain only an internal tool. Under the leadership of CNC’s chief political and economic commentator Lenka Zlámalová and a trio of chief editors, Marek Miler, Markéta Fišerová and Jana Tamas, it became an exclusive content service that picks the most essential information from an overwhelming volume of news.

Selection and processing of news is handled by editors with experience at international agencies such as Bloomberg, Reuters and the Associated Press, and by a team of authors who go deep into individual fields of politics, economics, business and technology.

User-friendly thanks to technology

11 am is a user-friendly medium for both creators and readers. It runs on the Ghost platform, which is far more interactive than older CMSs. It offers inline editing, so authors see how their output will look as they create it. The simple design of news and comments is complemented by clear data visualisations that add context and depth to the topics.

The designer of 11 am is Tom Garcy, whose goal was a clear and clean design, without frills and unnecessary elements, which is nevertheless memorable and sufficiently “bold”. “The result is brazenly simple, it does not play games, because here the content is what matters. By combining a serif and a sans-serif font we ensured memorability even for something as simple as the combination of white and black. The UX has a clear and clean form, the logo is simple, bold, distinctive and says it all,” says Garcy.
