The top Czech football league is back at full speed from mid-July, and with it comes a new iSport Fantasy season. After a very successful launch last year, we are entering our second season with many new features and improvements that fulfil the wishes of our active users, the so-called Coaches.
Last year we launched our own football fantasy game, which quickly caught the attention of players across Czechia. In the spring we launched a mobile app for Android and iOS, so iSport Fantasy became the only game on the market to offer one. For the new season we have brought plenty more novelties: iSport Fantasy has a new web interface and game mechanics that our Coach community asked for.
New website
For this season we launched a completely new website. It is mobile first, offers a light and dark mode, and is generally based on the design of the mobile app. Unusually, it has no green pitch and instead relies on flat design. The minimalist UI is contrasted by detailed 3D player jerseys, prepared by Pavel Matějovský. This season the visual language of the app was taken over and developed further by Nik Eftimiadis, who turned it into a full foundation for the newly launched web interface. The result is a unified and distinctive look across devices.
Mobile app
We knew from the start that we wanted a native mobile app for Android and iOS. But we decided to release the game gradually and first launched the website as a functional foundation. We developed the app in parallel and, two months before launch, offered it in beta to selected Coaches. It paid off. It has been on the market since February 2025, and today 60% of users play in it.
New features at the request of Coaches
Visual design is just the icing on the cake, and we have added many new features for the new season. We work with Coaches on these features, keep up active communication with them, and their suggestions feed into our product roadmap. Based on Coaches' wishes, we have already added to iSport Fantasy the results of each round, monthly leaderboards, search for coaches and teams, alerts for an invalid lineup when a player is transferred, display of player price changes, and mobile notifications for round deadlines. The biggest rule change is an adjustment to scoring, which now favours attacking teams more, since Coaches want to score goals in a fantasy league. “In the coming months we will add, for example, detailed statistics and the ability to filter the list of players by multiple criteria. That is only part of the novelties. We are working on others, but for now we are keeping those as a surprise,” says Ondřej Javornický.
The combination of the new design, features and mobile app is also reflected in the numbers. The share of players who keep playing long term after trying the game grew by 20%. iSport Fantasy is thus continuing its goal of developing the game together with the community, delivering useful novelties not just with each season but constantly.
