Pokorný and Pohlreich took a break to find out whether it was worth carrying on. The answer is yes, and LUTN is launching a new series. Behind it all, though, is a question that media analysts abroad also study: in a podcast built on people, the brand is just another word for their mutual bond. That cannot be bought or transferred.
The podcast Lepší už to nebude was never just about its topic. It was about how people who have something to say get along with each other. Within four months of its launch in February 2025, the show had over four million views on YouTube and placed fourth at the Podcast roku awards. Miloš Pokorný, Zdeněk Pohlreich and Patrik Hezucký each brought something different. Pokorný brought rhythm and radio, Pohlreich unvarnished opinion, and Hezucký humour and detachment, which he carried from decades on the morning airwaves of Evropa 2. Three different styles, one dynamic. This is exactly what happens to the most successful podcasts once their hosts understand what their show really rests on.
Where it has worked elsewhere
The British The Rest is Football, with Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Micah Richards, works on the same principle as LUTN. People who know each other off the set and have no reason to go easy on one another. The American podcast SmartLess, with Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett, reached the global top five not because of star guests, but because of what happens between the hosts before the guest says a word. In all these cases the same thing applies: the show rests on the relationship inside it, not on names from outside. That is exactly why it cannot simply be copied.
Why a third member is not a detail
LUTN has announced that it is looking for a third permanent member. It is both transparent and risky. In podcast culture, audience loyalty is tied to the voice, not the logo. More than 70% of listeners globally listen to episodes to the end. That figure holds when the listener knows what to expect. Adding a new voice is a bet that the dynamic of a trio can be rebuilt without losing what worked in the original line-up.
Pokorný put it well : they are not looking for a replacement. They are looking for someone they click with. The difference matters. A replacement is a casting. The other is a relationship.
Podcasts head for the stage
The details of the Czech roadshow that Pokorný and Pohlreich revealed in the first episode show where personality-led podcasts are heading in Europe. The average European listener follows six podcasts regularly, and willingness to pay for a live experience with a favourite voice grows as trust in the medium grows. In the United Kingdom and France, podcast hosts moving onto the stage have become a standard part of monetisation over the last two years.
LUTN Live at Divadlo U hasičů sold out in November 2025, before the classic promotion had even started. All of this only confirms that audiences came to buy an experience with people they already know well.
The Czech scene is far from an exception in this respect. For example, České podcasty has started mapping podcast events across the Czech Republic, where you can find an overview of upcoming live appearances. LUTN’s break therefore did not reveal a weakness. It confirmed what holds the show together. They came back when they were sure of the answer. Not when an algorithm told them to.
